Read Around the World Series: The Little Duckling

I love sharing about books, so this year I’ve decided to participate in The Multicultural Kid Blogs’ Read Around the World summer series… twice! (Click here to check out my first post.)

Last time, I shared a Malaysian children’s book. This time, I’d like to share a Korean children’s book called The Little Duckling.

The Little Duckling’s text is perfect for very young children. The story uses basic sentences (E.g. “Hello Little Duckling!” “I can fly in the sky,” said the butterfly.) This book is actually targeted to learners of English as a second language, which is why the book is also accompanied by a CD near the end. The lyrics to some of the songs that are in the CD are also on the last few pages on the book.

This is one of the first children’s books I bought for L1. It is also one of the few Korean books in English for kids I could find while I was in Korea. The story is written by Mi-Young Seo and illustrated by Mi-Young Cho.
