Kid Friendly Cafes at Publika, Kuala Lumpur

Kid-Friendly Cafes with Play Areas in Publika, Kuala Lumpur

Posted by

Kuala Lumpur’s Publika is hands-down my favorite mall in Kuala Lumpur because of its “lifestyle complex” feel (other reasons I love it will be explained in a future post). Not only that, it is very kid-friendly! Publika has indoor playgrounds, shops for children, and even kid-friendly cafes!

For this post, I will focus on Publika’s kid-friendly cafes. If you’ve been following the blog, you’ll know that I’m a big, big fan of kids cafes. In fact, I blog a whole lot about the ones in Seoul here.

Types of Seoul Kids Cafes
A post sharing what kids cafes in Seoul are like

The reason is simple: it’s because we parents need a break! While I was based in Seoul, we didn’t have consistent helpers because it was really expensive. My working-mom friend once even joked that she only worked to pay the nanny caring for her children and to receive insurance from the company. So that’s why kids cafes were a big deal in Seoul—so that parents could have a break while the kids have fun within mommy or daddy’s viewing range!

So when I saw these sort of Malaysian “kids cafes” at Publika, naturally I got excited and decided to share them here on the blog as well. These are the two beautiful ones that we saw while we were there:

1. Namoo on the Park
I was very surprised to discover that some of the staff were Filipinos, so naturally, I chatted them up. I learned that the owner is Korean, which is probably why the cafe feels very authentic (like an actual Korean kids cafe!) My friend had recommended the place to me, telling me that it had its own playground. Naturally, I had assumed it was the giant one outside. When I went up to the second floor, I discovered that they had a play area on the second floor reserved for customers!

Here are some photos of the place, and their two play areas:

Check out this great review of Namoo on the Park here.

Namoo on the Park is located on Level G3 and is open from 11AM to 10 PM. For more information please contact them at +603 6411 6698.

2. Benbino
Benbino is another cafe that has its own playground. Unfortunately, it was closed when we went there (they are closed on Mondays) and so we also were not able to use the playground. 🙁 But here are some photos we got:

They have several branches across Kuala Lumpur. Check out their Facebook page to learn more or read Time Out’s review.

Benbino’s Publika branch is on level G3, and is open from 10AM to 9PM from Tuesdays through Sundays. For more information they can be reached at +60 3-6207 8557.

Special Mention
One restaurant I’d like to add is The Red Beanbag on Solaris Dotamas which is connected to Publika. This beautiful restaurant overlooks Publika’s the Piazza lifting you high above the throngs of traffic and stress below. My family and I sat outside and really felt very relaxed. The Red Beanbag may not have their own playground, but they have amazing coffee for the parents, kid-friendly dishes like Egg Benedict, and also animals are welcomed! Oh, the part that makes it kid-friendly is that they also serve ice cream. My kids were gobbling down their food because they were so excited about that! I really recommend this restaurant!

The Red Beanbag is open from 9:30AM to 10PM daily and can be reached at +60 3-2633 5030. For more information visit their Facebook page here or check out Kampung Boy City Gal’s review here.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you liked it! If there are other similar cafes in Publika that I might have missed, please let me know and I’ll add it here. Thanks! 🙂
